After two successful years, ‘Light Up The Holidays’ returns to Auckland this Christmas. From Thursday 15 December to Sunday 18 December 2016, Light Up are partnering with New Zealand’s largest mini golf company Lilliputt Mini Golf and Friends of Variety to create a luminous and family holiday experience to raise much needed funds for Variety – the Children’s Charity.
Kicking off the festivities on Thursday 15 December will be legendary actor and comedian Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, (What We Do In The Shadows, 7 Days, Billy T Winner) and actress Morgan Bradley (Kidzone, Dirty Laundry) who will host the inaugural celebrity mini golf tournament and tree lighting ceremony. Live entertainment will be provided by Albi and the Wolves, Fully Stocked, Kozo Komatsubara, Variety Voices choir, local community groups and many up and coming New Zealand entertainers and musicians.
The founders of Lilliputt Mini Golf, Hamish, Ollie, and George Fraser will donate the use of their Tamaki Drive property for the festivities. Hamish says, “We love ‘Light Up The Holidays’ concept and this year to have Variety – the Children’s Charity on board is fantastic! Lilliputt is proud to be able to support the community through such an awesome event.”
Bev Roberts, Chairman of Friends of Variety says, “We are really excited to be involved with the amazing and unique event ‘Light Up The Holidays’. This event not only encompasses the thrill of Christmas lighting, games and entertainment, but will also support those Kiwi kids living in deprivation who need help and a little ‘Light’ in their lives.”
‘Light Up The Holidays’ was created by Light Up, led by Andrew Potvin and Zac Johns. This will be the third annual charity event organised by the two that follows a successful collaboration in 2015, raising funds for the mental health charity Live More Awesome. “The fact that Variety – the Children’s Charity was started by performing artists, perfectly aligns to our mission of uniting the New Zealand performing arts and music industry to raise much needed funds and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be supporting Kiwi kids in need.”
The money raised will support Variety’s Christmas appeal, to bring the joy of Christmas to Kiwi kids living in deprivation.
‘Light Up The Holidays’ would not be possible without the support of Fraser Brothers Ltd, Light Fx Ltd, Creative Ambiance Stage Technologies, HLx Ltd, Andrew Potvin Design Ltd, The Fairy Light Shop and Morgahna Godwin Creative.
